bison?

June 25, 2012 by lacinda Leave a Comment

Saturday was a bust. We were supposed to go kayaking but the rental place was out of kayaks. So we went home, cleaned cleaned cleaned. Gave the cats a bath. (Just as much fun as you might imagine, but not terrible as a two person job: one person holds them in the tub, the other person scrubs).

A friend had posted on facebook about Hell’s Kitchen sausage bread, and after looking at their shipping costs I decided to roll my own (especially since I found the recipe). Went to Penzey’s for the spices I didn’t have; went to Whole Foods for the bison ground chuck; went home and made bison sausage. Em made super strong drinks for the adventure, and somehow we ended up on the kitchen floor, forks and plate in hand, having a culinary adventure.

(The sausage bread was good too. It wasn’t entirely clear to me that the sausage should be *raw* when you start to mix the bread; I cooked all the sausage Saturday night, and the bread turned out ok. Still, I can’t wait to try it again with the raw sausage as a base.)
