The road trip to Atlanta to see Arcade Fire & Spoon was spur of the moment. I had taken off Thursday & Friday to see and recover from Lilith Fair in Birmingham, and after Lilith Fair was canceled I kept the days off. Then I read about a stolen bike recovery in nyc, and the post mentioned how awesome the Arcade Fire/Spoon show was, and I thought OH YEAH…I hadn’t gotten tickets when the tour was announced because of the Lilith Fair show. It took approximately 30 seconds to decide we needed to go.
Spoon put on a predictable set – nothing spectacular. But Arcade Fire were amazing…I know all the drum pounding and instrument theatrics looks overblown and cheesy, but it really makes for a great concert experience. The last thirty minutes of the AF set was especially phenomenal – the band was dripping sweat and the crowd was bouncing around and singing along and I was too.
After the show we went out for a burger, and about 4am I woke up with the worst case of food poisoning I’ve had in quite some time…I still haven’t fully recovered.
