There are about five hundred reasons why fall is my favorite time of year.

The leaves this year were absolutely brilliant. I guess long periods of extreme drought are good for fall colors. Who knew?

I’ve been playing Wii when I should have been playing the guitar, reading, and doing other things. Speaking of music, Jeff is writing some clarinet parts for me. I guess I’d better get practicing.

Thanksgiving this year was completely, overwhelmingly awesome. I went over to the inlaws house (I guess I can call them that now), armed with a delicious pumpkin pie, cranberry relish, and the wii. It was stress-free, delicious, and wonderful.

When I heard the news
My heart fell on the floor
I was on a plane on my way to Baltimore
In these troubled times its hard enough as it is
My soul has known a better life than this

I wondered how so many could be in so much pain
While others don’t seem to feel a thing
Then I curse my wiseness and I get so damned depressed
In a world of suffering why should I be so blessed

I heard about a woman who lives in Colorado
She built a monument of sorts behind her garage door
Where everyday she prays for all whom are born and all whose souls have passed on
Sometimes my trouble gets so thick
I can’t see how I’m going to get through it
But then I would rather be stuck up in a tree
Than be tied to it

I know
There is so much more

I don’t feel comfortable with the way my clothes fit
I can’t get used to my body’s limits
I got some fancy shoes to try and kick away these blues
They cost a lot of money but they aren’t worth a thing
I want to free my feet from the broken glass and concrete
I need to get out of this city
Lay upon the ground and stare a hole in the sky
Wondering where I go when I die
When I die

it has been a crazy couple of weeks around here. any computer or electronics equipment i have touched has turned to shit. this weekend was vulcan run, pretty much the only weekend of the year that I absolutely need vulcanrun.com to be up. Our webhost botched an upgrade, resulting in the site going down late friday night…and coming back up…when? who knows. it’s still down. (although i’ve since switched webhosts, at least to get the results out).

saturday after taking some cool photos of vulcan run, getting a waffle and coffee at crestwood coffee company (best coffee in birmingham!), and generally mucking about the house, emily and i loaded up the bikes and went to anniston to ride part of the chief ladiga rails to trails section. we rode and rode and rode – about 19 miles in all – and arrived back at the car right about sunset. the weather was perfect and the trail is awesome. we’ll get to georgia next time!

oh, and today we bought rings. this kicks ass.
