weary as water

every time i blink i have a tiny dream

muscles i didn’t know i had

good weekend. saw “band of horses” at the earl in atl on thursday, and they were great even though the crowd was loud and obnoxious. i was tired on friday (we drove to atl after work thursday and back home after the show); meant to finish up my book (which is overdue! ack!) but we ended up watching some really terrible talent contest on tv.saturday i played 7s rugby at the tournament here – ended up super sore but still had a good time. i miss rugby. i don’t miss it enough to travel every weekend and play with people that i don’t really like, though. it’s too bad the birmingham team got old…i really enjoyed playing with those gals.

sunday oh sunday – i installed a programmable thermostat in my apartment! talk about exciting! (oh yeah, and food not bombs was awesome – had more people show up than i have seen there in a long time. yay for summer, i guess.)

this post is pretty pointless; mainly i’m just testing the new rss feed.

responsibility

yesterday i bought a $10 part at lowe’s and turned the built-in lens on my digital camera into a fisheye lens. it turned out nicely. ( and no, i didn’t think of that myself.)

i’ve also been working on my piece-o-crap bike. i’ve been riding it back and forth to work sometimes, but i want to start riding more, just for fun. the front brakes are nowworking nicely. everything has been cleaned and greased and tightened and generally unsqueakified. except, uhm, i broke the rear brake by overtightening one little tiny screw. oops. so, i suppose i should make a trip to the store soon. by car, i guess. or maybe i’ll see if that junkie down the street will still let me have that frame in front of his apartment (with rear brakes still attached).in a moment of complete responsibility, i bought a bike helmet. all i need now is some sort of rack/box for the back and i’ll feel pretty good about riding to publix on my weekly grocery run (except the fact that it’s all uphill.) then get some fenders and i’ll be able to ride to work in the rain! i’m toying with the idea of getting rid of my car, but i probably won’t.

i think it is absolutely hilarious to watch people pawning whatever they can in order to buy gas for their suv.

long overdue update

have lots to say about today’s primary election but i need to go to bed. here’s the quick rundown.pros:
* roy moore (right wing “ten commandments” judge) was defeated in the republican primary.
* so was larry darby (athiest activist and recently outed white supremicist with two half chinese children…no i’m not making that up…and he ran on the democratic ticket.)

cons:
* amendment one (a AL constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage) was also defeated. not that i expected any differently, but it is frustrating to me when the biggest issue of the campaign was outlawing gay marriage (in a state where there is no chance of it being legalized ANYWAY)…instead of any sort of discussion about all the other crap that is going on in the world.

oh, to surround myself with people who can at least explain their beliefs.
